"Low-risk" investment generates biggest ever single-investment loss in pension sector history

According to an industry observer, PFA Pension's DKK 3bn (EUR 400m) loss on Nordic Aviation Capital is the largest loss generated by a single investment in the history of the Danish pension industry. 0.5 percent of PFA clients' total savings was lost in one blow.

Denmark's largest commercial pension company, PFA Pension, considered one of its investments to be a low-risk opportunity in a healthy company -- but the case has proved itself to be the worst single investment in the pension company's 104-year history.

In 2018, PFA invested DKK 3bn (EUR 400m) in a junior bond to Nordic Aviation Capital, NAC, a Danish aircraft leasing company.
