Consultancy: Price squeeze hits ESG strategies

Biennial survey from independent consultancy finds "notable fee reductions" in ESG and impact strategies in particular, with a 14 percent drop in institutional mandates since 2016.

Global investment consultancy bfinance has just finished its latest biennial asset class survey and noted that institutional asset management fees have dropped in several asset classes and that the price squeeze has hit ESG-related strategies as well.

Established strategies such as ESG equities and renewable energy infrastructure are now cheaper, while newer strategy types such as Impact Equities and Article 9 funds are being offered at discount prices.
