PFA's returns lead to quality concerns over alternatives portfolio

Denmark's largest commercial pension company, PFA Pension, has not performed well in returns comparison surveys for many years. This is a serious issue, says partner and co-owner of advisory firm Bedstpension, Gert Nielsen.

Once they were among the best, but for several years now, PFA has been among the worst when it comes to returns on market rate products.

Comparison statistics compiled by independent investment advisor Nikolaj Holdt Mikkelsen on life cycle products with medium risk and 20 years to retirement reveal that on a ten-year basis, PFA takes second place, with returns of just under 9.7 percent. However, if the 2021 returns are measured alone, PFA comes dead last, with an 11.34 percent return. Its green product did a little better, landing in the middle with a return of just under 13 percent.
