Handelsbanken to pay USD 1bn dividend in asset manager shares

This comes as the Swedish FSA is to lift restrictions on payouts at the end of September.

Handelsbanken AB, Sweden's third-largest bank, plans to distribute a stake worth about SEK 8.7bn (USD 1bn) in investment company Industrivarden AB to shareholders.

"As a result of the bank's good capital situation, the board of directors of Handelsbanken has resolved to convene an extraordinary general meeting and propose an extra dividend," the company said in a statement on Tuesday. The bank’s capitalization is "well above" the target ratio level, it said.
