The two most important principles when investing in equities are that one should invest in companies that other investors are not interested in and believe academic research about which long-term small caps perform better than others, says Mika Heikkilä, Head of Equities at Aktia and portfolio manager of Taaleri's Mikro Markka Finnish small cap equity fund.
The third principle to remember when investing is that without passion and dedication it is impossible to succeed as a portfolio manager and investor, he says.
