Varma's real estate lead looks back on tenure with pride as he leaves the world of pensions

During Ilkka Tomperi's eight years at Varma, the pension giant's property portfolio experienced significant changes. Among other things, the share of international investments within the real estate portfolio went up from five to 30 percent.

Finnish pensions giant Varma is set to look for a replacement for its Head of Real Estate, as Ilkka Tomperi announced this week that he is leaving the company before the summer holidays.

Tomperi, who joined Varma in 2013, will join Finnish construction group YIT Corporation as Executive Vice President of the Partnership properties division and a member of the group management team. Tomperi will take over his new post in early August.
