Swedish pension fund enters real estate development joint venture

A public pension insurance company and a real estate firm join forces to develop more sustainable residential real estate.

Swedish public pension insurance company Kåpan enters a joint venture with real estate firm Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden (SBB). The partners name the venture Hemvist and will focus on developing apartments and family housing, with greater Stockholm as one key area.

The venture will also own and manage an existing portfolio. As part of the collaboration, Hemvist will buy a small part of SBB's portfolio of 269 apartments and ongoing developments for 1.270 dense residential properties.
