Pandemic crisis will take a toll on companies' psychology, says Varma's CEO

Whilst the decisions reached at the recent EU summit reduce the probability of falling into a long recession, the ongoing pandemic can have a significant psychological impact, says Varma's CEO Risto Murto.

Although the crisis caused by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic is a unique and rapidly emerging global ordeal, large Finnish industrial companies are still in good shape in terms of their results and, above all, their balance sheets, says CEO of Finland's second largest pension insurance company Varma.

"There is no need to speculate whether an individual large company would be going bankrupt or not. There is resilience all the way around," Risto Varma says on Finland's public broadcaster Yle.
