Danske's new chief fund selector: "Tricky to evaluate hedge funds' sustainability profile"

Susanne Bolin Gärtner, who will become Danske Bank's Head of Fund Selection in January 2020, do not think it is acceptable to shorten stocks that a fund company would exclude based on ethical criteria.

Some areas of the fund management ecosystem need a lot more engagement than others, says Susanne Bolin Gärtner to Nordsip. Bolin Gärtner, who left Folksam in October, is joining Danske Bank in early 2020 as Head of Fund Selection.

“Hedge funds can be a bit tricky when it comes to evaluating their sustainability. We may have a different view on ethics and responsible investments. For example, I do not think that is acceptable to shorten stocks that you would exclude based on ethical criteria,” Bolin Gärtner comments.
