Head of the Swedish branch of Nordea Funds: “In school, not working with numbers was my only goal”

For someone who hated math in school, it seems counterintuitive to later become CEO of Nordea Fonder. That is nonetheless exactly what happened for Maria Rengefors who as an adult has come to understand how working with numbers can be fun and meaningful.

Which career path did you envision for yourself when you were younger?

"Well, none in particular. I have followed different paths, I’ve been curious about all sorts of areas and open to new challenges. In school, I was most interested in languages, such as English and French, and writing. In school, not working with numbers was my only goal. I hated math. A job in the financial industry was not a long-term plan of mine."
