Danske Bank Norway Head of Wealth Management Paal Karstensen decided to write his master thesis about how Norwegian fund managers use derivatives in the hunt for returns. This proved be a major advantage throughout his career. He tells AMWatch why.

Which career path did you envision for yourself when you were younger?

"When I was young, my sister married a fixed income salesman from a Norwegian bank. It was the late 80s, Wall Street was a very popular movie, and everything was booming. I was fascinated by his job and lifestyle, and I decided on a career in finance.
