Danish pension funds throttle down on insourcing

The insourcing of investments by Danish pension providers has lost a bit of steam.

They are able and willing to do it themselves. But after years of insourcing large investment mandates in several of Denmark's pension funds, simplification is on the agenda, and the pressure on external investment managers has eased a bit.

According to consultancy firm Kirstein, data suggests that pension providers handle investment mandates internally on a much smaller scale. However, when external managers get a mandate, this happens in areas such as fixed income and alternative investments. Looking at equities, status quo applies.
