Alternatives under the microscope: Investors now hedging equity risk

Graduating with a BSc in microbiology was not obviously going to lead to Christian Howells managing a USD 1 billion private equity and real estate fund. Let alone work with hedge funds, corporate bonds, infrastructure, and other alternatives as senior investment director at the EUR 630 billion firm Aberdeen Standard Investments. AMWatch took him back to his roots and asked him to put the current alternatives space under the  microscope.
