PIMCO tweaks funds as demand for ESG in fixed income takes off

So far, most ESG (environmental, social and governance) investment strategies in listed securities have been in the domain of equity investors. But that is about to change as demand for fixed income ESG strategies begins to soar, according to one of the world's largest bond managers.

EUR 1.50 trillion money manager Pacific Investment Management Co, or PIMCO, launched a spinoff edition of its global investment grade credit fund earlier in October. The difference between the original fund and the spinoff is that the new one has an additional focus on environmental and social benefits, hence its name — GIS global investment grade credit ESG fund.

The fund management team is the same for both strategies with the sole exception of the Mike Amey, PIMCO's head of ESG strategies.
