Sharp focus of single-strategy PE works for PKA AIP Private Funds

The alternative investment arm of Denmark's PKA is currently deploying its USD 3 billion (EUR 2.57 billion) three-year program focused on private equity funds and co-investments. But given the vast choices out there, how does the team select private equity fund managers?

St. Louis-based Thompson Street Capital Partners, London-founded Equistone and Audax Private Equity of Boston are all private equity firms that PKA has committed to via PKA AIP Private Fund’s third fund investment program.

PKA AIP Private Funds manages a portfolio of USD 8 billion (EUR 6.84 billion) in commitments across 134 funds and 34 co-investments on behalf of PKA’s pension savers. The aim is to identify fund managers that can outperform the listed markets and are top quartile relative to benchmark peers.
