Pension companies have focused too much on placing funds in alternative investments such as wind farms and real estate, thinks Jørgen Svendsen, partner at actuary insurance brokerage AFPR, writes business daily Finans after a new survey of returns from the first half of 2020 has shown that companies with a strong focus on alternative investments are not doing well.

"Many have glorified alternative investments, and they have consumed an enormous amount of resources in the investment departments. But they are not worth it at all. In my opinion, it has removed energy and focus from equities and bonds, which are clearly the most important things to focus on to ensure the best returns for pension savers," says Svendsen.
