In Denmark, most people equate the name ATP with the country's largest and most powerful pension fund.
ATP's core tasks include collecting nearly DKK 10 billion (EUR 1.3 billion) of ATP-earmarked capital each year from 160,900 employers; managing the DKK 768 billion fund and paying around DKK 16 billion a year in ATP pensions to roughly 1.1 million pensioners. This has been ATP's role since it was set up in 1964 in cooperation with employers and employees.
