Sweden’s top pension firms push into new investment territory

Both Alecta and AMF are busy shifting assets into new investment types: Alecta has more than doubled its green bonds investments in 2017, while AMF’s CIO says her fund has been working to manage assets outside the traditional asset classes.

As the hunt for investment assets that meet a range of new demands from asset owners — higher yields, broader diversification and ESG considerations, for example — Sweden’s two largest pension firms reported developments in their non-traditional investment.

Both pension providers made their biggest investment gains in 2017 on real estate and equities, according to end-of-year figures.

Nasdaq reports record year in Europe

In 2021, the number of new equity listings on the Nasdaq exchange in Copenhagen broke the old record set in 2007, and in Stockholm, the exchange recorded its highest-ever number of new listings. Nasdaq also had increasing trading volumes last year.
