Finance professor scolds queasy investors for taking excessive risk

There has been enormous pressure on private investors to take on more risk, says Finace Professor Carsten Tanggaard, adding that the timing couldn't be worse now that equity markets are on their knees. "Now we get see what risk actually is," he says.

In the last months, banks have advised clients facing negative interest rates on their large capital accumulations to place their money in other assets, for instance, in equity markets.

However, this last month's major value decimation from once-high share prices has resulted in an historically poor period to be an investor for certain customers.
