Nordea to adopt expanded systematic internaliser role from early 2018

Mifid II is almost a reality by now, and getting ready for it is everybody's challenge these days. Scandinavia's largest bank, Nordea, has decided to adopt an expanded Systematic Internaliser role, embracing more products than actually necessary many months in advance of the required deadline.

No more than two days after the calendar changes from 2017 to 2018, customers at Nordea will be able to trade several categories of assets and products and let Nordea worry about post trade reporting to the authorities.

Nordea has decided to become a Systematic Internaliser (SI) for FX, interest rate derivatives, and cash bond instruments traded on a trading venue from Jan. 3, 2018. If expanding the asset classes or products under the Systematic Internaliser umbrella becomes necessary at a later stage, Nordea will consider doing so.
