Danske Bank points to the winners and losers in the pursuit of IMO's climate targets

Climate efforts have become a parameter in line with companies' abilities to be profitable. In a new report, Danske Bank points out which shipping companies are the closest to achieving the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) target of lower emissions and which still have the furthest to go.

The shipping industry accounts for 2.9 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, which makes it one of the most energy efficient forms of transportation at all, writes Danske Bank in a new report.

And yet, much more can be done by the industry, which is fighting to reduce emissions by 40 percent by 2050 compared the 2008 levels, according to a target set out by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
